History: Scioto Company owner James Kilbourne, who eventually served in the U.S. House of Representatives, founded Worthington, Ohio in 1803. The community was named after Thomas Worthington who became the Governor of Ohio. By 1866 the future Worthington Inn was established and in 1931 the only Roman Catholic pontifical college outside of Italy was created.
