Picking Pickerington, Ohio

History: In 1811 the village of Pickerington was called Violet, because of the wild purple violet flowers that grew in the fields all around the community. The name was changed with the Pickering family established a town. This was around 1827.  Today, Pickerington continues to grow, in part because it is situated equally between Columbus and Lancaster. The city is now home to business and industry and is a lovely place to call home.

Population: Around 20,000.

Quality of Life: The median income is just over around $78,000 and the average home sells for about $180,700.

Schools: Pickerington, of course!

Taxes: Not bad. For an average sized home you’ll pay about $2,000 annually.

Fun Things To Do — Pickerington, Ohio: If you love crafting and antiques, Ryan recommends the Pickerington Antique & Craft Show, the annual event put on by boosters of the Pickerington Central High School.  Pickerington is also home to the Motorcycle Museum, which is an absolute must-see. But we also love the Pickerington Violet Festival held every summer in this vibrant and fun community.
