History: Reynoldsburg was named for a settler named Reynolds that arrived in 1831 and set up a storefront selling supplies to workers building the Cumberland Road. Today, the Cumberland Road is U.S. Route 40, the historical east to west highway that still runs through the heart of downtown Reynoldsburg. Within a few years of this road came taverns, churches, a post office and a school. Reynoldsburg was incorporated in 1839.
