Galena is the natural mineral lead sulfide that this farming community was named after. Driving through the village you will see many of the original brick buildings built in the early 1900s. The community served as the center of industry up until the early 1980s, hosting the Galena Shale Tile and Brick Company. Today, their hand-molded bricks are a collectors item.
Population: Just shy of 400 residents with a median family income of around $50,000.

This is a low-key, desirable place to plant roots; it is one of the few traditional farming communities in the area, with corn and soybeans still the predominant crop.
